Introducing Our Founder: The Driving Force Behind United Community Management

Nicole has been a professional in the property management industry since 1993. She started at a young age as an apartment manager for a large REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) in Arizona. Starting as a leasing consultant, she quickly moved up through the ranks to becoming a manager within a year. She spent 5 years as an apartment manager dealing with everything from older established properties to brand new lease-up properties and everything in between.

She spent almost 5 years as an apartment manager and decided she wanted a new challenge in a similar industry, so she started working as a manager for homeowners associations (HOAs). Although that was an entirely new part of property management for her, she realized she loved it even more than managing apartments.

Her experience in HOA management is far-reaching and varied. Although she currently specializes in managing community associations, her background includes working in land development where she spent 7 years writing governing documents (CC&Rs, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation), drafting initial HOA operating budgets, and forming the non-profit corporation that sets up the association. She was a key consultant for several homebuilders in advising them on how to form their HOAs, what rules and restrictions to set, and making sure they set the assessment amounts that homeowners have to pay at a reasonable amount.

She has managed communities that range in size from 13 homes all the way up to 7,745 homes. Those communities were made up of master-planned neighborhoods, condominiums, high-density homes (hammerhead designs, zero lot line, connected homes), custom and semi-custom homes, and even homebuilder projects from the time the first house is constructed through completion and after. This diverse experience in forming and managing associations gives her the unique perspective needed to use innovative solutions to make HOAs thrive as a neighborhood and a business.

With almost 3 decades in her field, she is an expert who prides herself on still being able to learn and grow within the community management industry on a daily basis. She firmly believes that every interaction, whether positive or not, is an opportunity to get better at managing community associations. United Community Management is run on that belief!
